Double - Slit experiment, 2025

Based on a photo of Cary Grant -“Cary Grant, as he was”. The painting is split into two frames as if it were frames of a moving image suggesting that he is not, “as he was”, but rather still acting for the camera. The painting speaks to modern day social media and camera culture, and begs the question, can act like ourselves while being observed?

Acrylic, Graphite Pencil, and Charcoal on Canvas

60 cm x 120 cm

Hard lines. Soft features. A sailor masculine, scribbled in pencil, wearing someone else’s eyes and lips borrowed from a a girl in a fashion magazine. This one’s about control and identity and in the human experience.

Part of my, Elegance of Dissonance collection.
