Our subjects look like they are either ready for a fight or have been fighting. The monochromatic makeup of each of the two pieces suggests the subject is fully consumed by their emotions, red, anger or rage, and blue, sadness. In context to the collection, ‘Becoming’ a look at the struggle of human identity, the subjects have fully identified with their emotions. When are we beings experiencing emotions, and when do we become identified with them? The t-shirts that they wear are not normal for boxing training or fighting, the t-shirts represent a bringing of everyday life into the fight.
