Dallas Squishy Face, 2025

Drawn on a bag that a take out burger was in, this piece speaks to our relationship with food. Part of the, ‘Becoming’ collection, a study into the struggle of human identity. Over the last decade I’ve collected portraits of people squishing their face into contortion. The idea was to capture a moment where someone looses themselves. For that moment they are free, they are at play. They loose the identity their clothes portray, their socioeconomic status, their social status, in that moment they are raw, or free, or perhaps even more “themselves”, something to ponder.
