Restraint, 2025

Our Subject is smoking, clearly not using restraint, he’s looking at the viewer and with his eyes asking, what kind of restraint do you have? The piece is also void of pencil and charcoal marks which is the artist’s marks of choice. Most every painting starts with an under painting like this, here the artist is making a show of his restraint finishing the piece at this stage.

Acrylic, on Canvas

135 cm x 185 cm

Hard lines. Soft features. A sailor masculine, scribbled in pencil, wearing someone else’s eyes and lips borrowed from a a girl in a fashion magazine. This one’s about control and identity and in the human experience.

Part of my, Elegance of Dissonance collection.
