Visually observing the struggle of identity
Becoming \\\
Humans search long and hard and go to great lengths to “find themselves”, identify, re-identify. This collection is in visual observation of that process.
The scribble was chosen as the line form of this collection. A scribble is ambiguous, it has no form or direction unlike the straight line. In the exploration of personal identity through my art, the scribble was chosen to further illuminate the seemingly ambiguous choices one makes over a lifetime stacked on top of each other, one by one, experience by experience— to in the end, find and discover one’s identity.

Misphits Exhibition SoHo, NYC
is a celebration of the misfit, outcast, and the obscure. In a time of corporations and music labels, a look back at the punk era, and then the grunge, a magnifying glass is placed on the corporate exploitation of sub cultures. Through subject choices, and material, the exhibition more closely points its finger towards fashion, and culture’s consumption. Taking a look forward to our modern time, the exhibition chooses Amanda Lepore, a famous trans model, as its modern day “Punk” hero. She, like the punk jackets, represent the sometimes audacious nature of the modern day movement.

Magazine Editorial
Josh was asked by Adon Magazine, an art forward gay fashion magazine, to art direct an editorial for their Anniversary issue. The concept came quickly to him he said at an event during fashion week,
“it’s a story of masks, we all wear masks”.
Josh embraced his many masks in a piece of work that successfully merges art and fashion with a great team that aided in support of his vision.
ADON, Issue #06
“To start, Josh Wald let us get a glimpse of his creative mind and artwork. His beautiful editorial shows another side of his unique personality.”
